The Story
Growing up on the south side of Chicago, Bob, Sam and George Eid
worked in their dad’s neighborhood stores learning about fresh produce, meats, and old fashioned customer service. The Eid brothers also spent time in the kitchen helping their mother turn simple ingredients in to great food. It was there they learned that great food and hospitality is an art that has the power to bring people together.
In 1993, the Eid boys and their friends opened One World as a one room coffee shop and it quickly evolved to the One World that you see today, built on the foundation of quality, consistency, variety and hospitality.
Expansion into catering
As OW Cafe became more popular, customers began to ask for the fresh cafe food for their homes and offices. This request was fulfilled with the creation of OW Catering in 1998. One World Catering specializes in unique caterings of all sizes, made with the freshest ingredients and many specialty choices. The upstairs area was also re-designed in order to offer a comfortable business lounge for small meetings and private functions.
Expansion into Packard Plaza
The success and growth of the restaurant and catering business allowed One World to expand once again. In 2006 OW Catering was asked to take over the Packard Plaza Banquet facility in downtown Peoria. We had many requests to do large events for weddings and other functions, but did not have the facilites to execute. The opportunity was welcomed and we now provide full catering and banquet services to groups as large as 500.

New Kitchen and lounge
In 2007, One World built a new, larger kitchen in the building space next door. This allowed for the creation of the Green Dragon Lounge, a full service bar featuring 9 beers on tap, top shelf liquor, and an excellent wine list. Additionally, booth seating was added in the new bar area to accomodate our guests.
